If you’re finding yourself with a little spare time on your hands, your Mitchell & Brown Smart TV has lots of apps and features that allow you to access a range of TV shows, both new releases and some gems that you may have previously overlooked. Some apps may require subscriptions, but you can usually get 1 month free. So, here’s a list of some of our favourite shows you may be interested in.   1.  Derry Girls – All 4 If you’re looking for something to make you laugh, Derry Girls might be the answer. At first glance, you wouldn’t realise that a show centered around The Troubles in Northern Ireland would provide any humor, but you’ll find yourself quickly getting hooked on this box set.   2.  Locke & Key – Netflix

Locke and Key offers something a bit different. This American supernatural horror drama will keep you on the edge of your seat. Following their father’s murder, three siblings move into a house filled with reality-bending keys.

The producer, Joe Hill, is the son of famous author Stephen King; and he has certainly followed in his father’s footsteps. If you like Stephen King’s work, you should give Locke & Key a chance.

3.  The Grand Tour – Amazon Prime

If you were a fan of the original Top Gear with the trio of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, you’ll enjoy The Grand Tour where they trade in the studio for a giant tent to travel the world. On the road, the team attempts several extraordinary things, like becoming special forces soldiers, taking powerful cars on test tracks and going on a traditional gentleman’s tour of Italy.

4.  Planet Earth – BBC iPlayer

You might not be able to travel the world at the moment, but that doesn’t mean you cannot marvel at its beauty. Sir David Attenborough will take you on a journey around the planet to see its hidden wonders.

5.  The Crown – Netflix

the crown

The Crown, based on an award-winning play, takes you on a journey following chronicles of the life of Queen Elizabeth II. The series begins with an inside look at the early reign of the queen, who ascended the throne at age 25.

6.  Stranger Things – Netflix

Stranger Things treads along the lines of sci-fi drama, as the series focusses on the disappearance of a 12-year old boy. As the local authorities and the boy’s mother search for answers, they unravel a series of extraordinary mysteries involving secret government experiments, unnerving supernatural forces, and a very unusual little girl.

7. All or Nothing (Sports Documentary) – Amazon Prime

If you’re looking for a sporting fix, All or Nothing peeks behind the curtains of professional sports teams, including Manchester City, the Los Angeles Rams, Philadelphia Eagles and the New Zealand All Blacks.

Each series focusses on a sports team and follows them behind the scenes for a whole season. Fans will be able to witness all the highs and lows of the favourite team.

8.  The Royals – My 5

Whilst Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have left the UK Royal Family in real-life, you can still kick back and follow this fictional Royal Family. Whilst this is a US soap opera, it does provide us with a glimpse of what life is like as a Royal.

9.  Jack Ryan – Amazon Prime

Based on the famous novel series by Tom Clancy, Jack Ryan has headed to our living rooms on the small screen. The series follows a former U.S. Marine and an up-and-coming CIA analyst as he uncovers a pattern of terrorist communication, launching him into a dangerous field assignment for the first time.

10.  This Is Us – Amazon Prime

This award-winning American drama follows three siblings going through unique personal struggles at different times in their life as they try to find happiness and get over a tragedy in their past.
