What size TV should I buy?

What size TV should I buy?

We all go through the same process when buying a new TV… Do I buy a big or a small screen, will the TV look too big in my room and will the image quality be as good on a smaller screen. Here is a bit of information to help you with your decision. When buying a new TV consider where you’ll be sitting in the room. You should measure the distance from where you sit on a sofa to where your TV will be positioned. You’ll easily be able view a 17- 27 inch TV from between four and five feet, so 1.2 to 1.5 meters away. The smaller screens are ideal for bedrooms, kitchens or if you don’t want your living room over powered by a large screen. There is no difference in picture quality between a smaller and a large screen unless, you’re comparing it to a 4K TV.

What is 4K?

4K, Ultra HD or UHD are all the same, just marketed differently by different manufacturers. So, in simple terms 4K offers you four times more detail than your conventional 1080p TV.

Is 4K TV the right choice for me?

If you’re a movie, sports or just love watching TV you’ll be interested in what 4K can bring to your life. Pictures on 4K TVs can have four times the detail of a Full HD set, but the screen size has to be 40-inch or larger for you to truly appreciate a 4K TV. However, bear in mind that because of the extra detail in the picture, you can sit a bit closer to the TV screen and still watch in comfort. For example, with a 40-inch 4K TV you can sit around 8.3 feet away from it. For a 50-inch, that goes up to 10.4 feet and for a 55-inch 11.4 feet. Ultimately, though, how close you sit to your TV – whether it’s a HD or 4K model – is down to your own personal preference and the way you’ve set up your living room.
